This fresh Salsa Verde (salsa verde cruda) comes together in minutes and is made with 100% raw ingredients (no cooking required!). The flavor is bright and zesty and so good served over tacos, on a burrito bowl, alongside enchiladas, or with a big bowl of chips for snacking!
3largetomatillos,husk removed and rinsed, then cut into large wedges*
1serrano pepper,stem removed and cut in half
1/4smallwhite onion,chopped
2garlic cloves,peeled
1/2small avocado
1/4cupfresh lime juice
1/2cupminced cilantro leaves and stems
salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Make the salsa verde. Combine all the ingredients in a high-powered blender and blend until smooth. Season to taste with salt.
Storage Instructions
Any leftover salsa verde can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 5 days.
Notes
*Note: Tomatillos are NOT green tomatoes. They’re part of the gooseberry family, which is why they have a husk. They are a bit tart which makes for a very fresh salsa verde!
