Frozen Strawberry-Mango Margaritas

frozen strawberry mango margaritas

These Frozen Strawberry-Mango Margaritas are the perfect margarita recipe for any occasion. They’re not too sweet, are packed with lots of fresh fruity flavor, and there’s plenty of zip from the lime juice.

Frosty and refreshing, these strawberry mango margaritas are a favorite of ours for bbqs, pool days, and general summertime sipping.

There are no funky ingredients in these margs, just easy-to-find items like frozen fruit, lime juice, and your tequila of choice.

To achieve the perfect consistency, we’re busting out our high-powered blender to blend up these margs. The blender is the key piece of equipment we’ll be using, and a food processor won’t work as a substitute.

Tips to Keep in Mind

A high-powered blender is key. I used my Vitamix to make the blended margaritas (we love this thing!), but any high-powered blender will do.

Use your favorite tequila. I am partial to blanco tequila, and my favorite brand is Casamigos tequila, but honestly I also really like the tequila from Trader Joe’s for a budget-friendly option.

Tequila + salt = happy me. I am 100% a salt or tajin on the rim of a margarita kind of gal. You can omit the salt completely or do a mix of salt and sugar if you prefer a salty-sweet rim for these frozen strawberry mango margs.

How to Make Frozen Strawberry Mango Margaritas in a Blender

Blended margs like this strawberry mango version are a cinch to prepare! To make this refreshing cocktail, combine the following in a blender and blend until smooth:

  • Frozen mango and strawberries. If you’re using a regular blender rather than a high-powered one (like a Vitamix), you might run into issues trying to blend up whole frozen strawberries.
  • Simple syrup. This is made by dissolving equal parts water and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Tequila. I always use blanco tequila.
  • Grand Marnier. The bitter orange flavor of this liqueur pairs perfectly with the sweet mango and strawberry.
  • Lime juice. Freshly squeezed makes all the difference!
  • Crushed ice. The bulk of the frosty texture for this margarita comes from the fruit (no one wants a watery marg!), but we do add a little ice in at the end so the drink is nice and thick.

Customizing Your Margaritas

Feel free to use this recipe as a jumping off point to make your own fruity margarita creation.

  • Swap fruits. You can substitute in different fruits based on your tastes. Ultimately you are looking for about 2.5-3 cups frozen fruits for the amount of alcohol in this recipe. This yields a really smooth, frozen margarita that isn’t too boozy.
  • Try a different tequila. I usually use blanco tequila but I’ve really started to come around to reposado and añejo tequilas, which are slightly deeper in flavor and color.
  • Use a different orange liqueur. I prefer Grand Marnier, but Cointreau or any triple sec may be used.
